Underbrush & Brush Removal
Brush removal is the lighter cousin of land clearing. The big trees stay; the honeysuckle, cedar saplings, thorn thicket, and everything choking the ground between them goes. When it's done you can see through your woods, walk your fence line, and mow ground you couldn't reach before.

When You Need This
- A fence line so overgrown you can't check or repair the fence
- Woods you'd like to walk or hunt but can't get through
- Cedar and honeysuckle taking over a pasture or field edge
- You want your acreage to look kept without losing the mature trees
How I Approach It
On the walk-through we mark the keepers — the oaks, the shade trees, whatever you want standing — and I price the removal of everything else. The proposal spells out the area, the cut height or grind finish, and where the material goes. If you want it mowable afterward, that's a line item too, so there's no confusion about what "done" looks like.
What the Written Proposal Covers
- The exact area and which trees are protected
- Finish condition — mulched to grade, cut and piled, or hauled
- Whether the ground will be mowable when I'm done
- Debris handling, priced as its own line
Honest Notes on Conditions
Brush hides things: old fence wire, dumped concrete, forgotten stumps, groundhog holes. Most of it I can spot on the walk-through, which is one more reason I do one. If something turns up mid-job that changes the scope — buried wire wrapped in a root ball, say — the work pauses and you approve a written change order before anything continues.
If Something Turns Up Underground
The machines stop. Mason shows you exactly what he found — rock, old field tile, buried debris — and what the options cost. Work doesn't continue until you approve a written change order. Nothing gets added to your bill without your written sign-off. That's the standing rule on every job.
